If you took a peek into my bathroom, you would see an obscene number of Dyson hair tools; I can’t get enough of the vacuum-turned-hair-tool company’s innovative hair technology. One reason Dyson reigns in the hair industry is that it isn’t afraid to use customer feedback to revamp its tools, resulting in faster, more efficient innovations, like the recent Supersonic Nural. And now? Dyson is putting its customers’ hair knowledge into styling products.
The brand’s first foray into hair care, the Chitosan line, was inspired by users who love Dyson tools but wanted longer-lasting styling, Dyson president of beauty Kathleen Pierce tells Bazaar.

The powerhouse ingredient behind the new products that helps lock in styling? Mushrooms—specifically, up to eight oyster mushrooms’ worth of chitosan per bottle. A molecule found in the cell walls of the fungi, chitosan gives them their firmness and shape. The new styling products, in true Dyson fashion, offer both functionality and flexibility, courtesy of the brand’s Triodetic technology—which deploys the chitosan to create lightweight bonds, delivering an all-day hold, smoothing hair, and controlling frizz.

The Pre-Style Cream can be applied before using hot tools and comes in four variations: light conditioning versions for straight to wavy hair and curly to “coily” hair, and rich conditioning versions for both hair types as well.

Once the styling is done, you can finish your hair with the Post-Style Serum, which also boasts hyaluronic acid to fight frizz.

And if the styling products weren’t thrilling enough, Dyson also just unveiled a new version of its viral Airwrap multi-styler. At first glance, the Airwrap i.d. looks like the original device, but—in a first for the brand—the new version connects to an app to customize your self-styling experience.

Enter your expertise level and desired result, and the app automatically tells the Airwrap how long to heat your hair in the curling barrel and to set the curl with the cool shot. This new feature eliminates the need to manually adjust the device’s heat and speed settings (eliminating arm strain), for an easier, seamless wrap process.
The Chitosan products range from $54.99 to $59.99 and are available now at dyson.com—where you can also sign up to be reminded when the Airwrap i.d. (which will retail for $599.99) comes out on August 26.
